Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration… we didn’t really get a new office, just a new shingle to hang on the wall.
Top Shelf was started at the end of 2011 as a division of Doc Sheldon’s Clinic, with the original intent to become the content strategy and copywriting arm of the company. The Clinic was to handle our SEO efforts.
But like the proverbial cobbler’s barefoot children, 100+ hour weeks of growing the business took precedence, and I never got around to reshaping the Clinic into a workable model. So for the last year and a half, it’s been a matter of putting out fires and satisfying client needs, whether with copy, websites or consulting.
I finally got tired of endlessly juggling things and decided I was my own worst enemy (I suspect a few of my colleagues have faced similar realizations). So I finally got off dead-center and decided to just make time!
So I recently registered a new domain and built a new responsive site, as a new division of the Clinic, which will handle our offerings of websites, site audits, conversion, ORM, PPC, research and SEO consulting. Since some of those functions had resided here on Top Shelf, they’ve simply been moved over there, which means that the services offered here have narrowed considerably.
To our clients, the change will be transparent, but it’ll allow us to be a lot more efficient in our planning and project management, so maybe I won’t be as grumpy. That’s gotta be a good thing, right?
